1. Solving Contact Problems with Abaqus

Contact problems are considered to be highly nonlinear and are one of the most difficult ones to solve. This book aims to provide practical information to perform contact analysis in Abaqus. In this book, the necessary concepts to perform a contact analysis are explained with detail. Furthermore the solution algorithm used for solving contact problems is described. During such analysis it is very common to face convergence difficulties. Special sections are devoted to diagnose such difficulties and take the corrective action. The contents of the book can be downloaded here.

2. Solving Nonlinear Problems with Abaqus

Nonlinear problems are considered to be highly challenging and require deep knowledge of numerical techniques to solve efficiently. Many books are available on the topic of nonlinear finite element analysis describing mathematical background and available algorithms for solving such problems. These include the topics such as continuum mechanics, constitutive equations and stiffness matrix formulation etc. These books give a detailed insight into the theory, however these are not sufficient for a CAE Engineer/Analyst to solve the nonlinear problems in a FEA software. To fill this gap, this book aims to provide practical information to perform complex nonlinear analysis in Abaqus, a leading FEA software. It presents only the basic theory that is necessary for an analyst involved in performing analysis using commercial software. It is fundamentally different from the conventional books in the way that it adopts Problem-Based Learning approach. It consists of a large number of tutorials providing intensive instructions to perform analysis of nonlinear problems. The contents of the book can be downloaded from here.
